Ok...So I started my running program yesterday. It is the same running program I do every year to get back in to condition. Granted, if I wasn't lazy and kept up with running all winter, I shouldn't have to do this...but oh well!
I do the Podrunner - C25K. And then continue on with their 5K-10K program. Pretty good programs - though I wish the music was different on it. Oh well...once I get to the end of the program (9 weeks for the 5K) I can go back to my rock music!!! Nice goal :-)
Anyways...Typically I run at an 11min pace on the treaddy...and knowing that when I run outside, my pace is always faster. So I pushed myself at a 9:31 pace last night...and I actually felt really good. My goal is to get to a 9min pace for a 10K this year.
Here's to a good start of my 2009 running season! ;-)

I am happy that you are running again. I was never a runner for obvious reasons.
Woo! You are awesome! Do you have any advice for someone that really wants to run? I really want to run, but am scared! I'm scared my heart is going to beat out of my chest or I'm going to faint! Silly, huh?! lol One of my buddies is doing a 5k in Dallas this weekend and I am so jealous!
Just remember that slow and steady is ok. The key is to keep just keep moving! If you feel your heart starting to work too hard or feel faint...WALK!!! take your pulse...you don't want it over 180...and keep water on the tread mill with you!
When I first started running three years ago...I got the book The Penguin Brigade by John Bingham...here is his website http://www.johnbingham.com/index.html
It's a good resource! and click on the link "What's a Penguin?" read "You Might be a Penguin if..." Very funny!
Thanks for the website! It is great! I loved the What is a Penguin link! Do you prefer running on the treadmill or a track outside? I was thinking about starting outside so the 3 of us could do it together. I know one of our friends said he had a hard time going from the treadmill to outside.
I am a totally outside runner...and dread the treaddy...probably why I have such a hard time stucking to it through the winter. But you will NEVER find me on a track. Go to www.mapmyrun.com and map out a course. the wind your way through neighborhoods or bike paths.
I know that on these early trainings I go approximately 2.5 miles with warm-up, session, and cooldown...so I'd map out a route that goes that far.
But for now I'm stuck inside as St Paul blows!
I saw you did your first run today!!! YAY!!! that's the first step to a new way of life! :-)
